On Feb. 5, employees at TruMark Financial® Credit Union’s annual meeting, held at the Radisson Hotel, Valley Forge, Pa., walked away with more than a recap of the credit union’s 2018 accomplishments. They were excited to learn TruMark Financial will be one of four local presenting sponsors and the official sponsor of high-impact fundraising for the Susan G. Komen® Philadelphia MORE THAN PINK Walk™ on May 12.
Elaine Grobman, chief executive officer of Susan G. Komen Philadelphia, attended the meeting and expressed gratitude for TruMark Financial’s support. She said one of the ways the sponsorship would help was to ensure 700 women get a mammogram, a measure to detect early signs of breast cancer.
A breast cancer survivor, who also happened to be a TruMark Financial member, showed an in-depth video depicting her journey as she battled the disease from her first chemotherapy treatment to forming a team and raising $5,000 at her first walk in 2014. “Susan G. Komen Philadelphia offered support and put me in touch with world renowned doctors when I received my diagnosis,” said the survivor. She said she is so grateful that “her credit union” will join her with its own team at the walk in May as she reaches a personal milestone of being cancer-free for five years. Her emotional story motivated the employees to get involved and create a team name as they take this journey with her to fight this dreadful disease.
